The Village of Pinecrest was incorporated in 1996. However, the Miami suburb originally began to flourish in the 1950’s and 60’s when many of the single family ranch style homes were built on one acre lots. In recent years, many of the older homes have been replaced by larger new construction homes. This, along with the excellent public school system, are major attractions to its nearly 20,000 residents.
The Village border’s extend from SW 88th Street on the north to SW 136th Street to the south and US 1 on the west to Old Cutler Rd./Red Rd. on the east. The crown jewel of the Village is Pinecrest Gardens, which is home to over 1000 tropical plants and trees.
